Melissa Margolis, L.Ac.

Melissa was raised in a medical family and developed an interest in the healing arts at an early age. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Harvard University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She completed several years of training at UCSF Medical School, but eventually gravitated towards holistic approaches to the body. A several year pilgrimage on the road of travelling in Asia introduced her to traditional healers in Eastern medicine, beginning her love affair with acupuncture and herbal therapies. She completed the Master’s program at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2004. She is a Diplomate with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is licensed to practice acupuncture in the state of California.

Melissa has practiced Chinese Medicine in a variety of environments. She has provided ear acupuncture in a public health setting at St. James Infirmary. She apprenticed at the fertility acupuncture clinic of Dr. Lifang Liang, where she helped to develop a textbook about Chinese Medical Gynecology.

As a solo practitioner, Melissa takes care to explain the process of diagnosis and treatment, educating her clients about the principles of Chinese Medicine as they are applied both in the acupuncture sessions and in a regimen of self-care.
